Job Title:  Counselor/Child Care Worker I

Shifts:   Day, Swing, Graveyard and Weekends

This entry level position provides the opportunity to learn new skills and gain an overview of multiple agencies which provide services to disadvantaged and emotionally  disturbed adolescent males.  Residents are placed with us through County Mental Health, Child Protective Services and the Juvenile Justice System. You and a coworker will  work directly with 6 teen boys who are residents in a therapeutic treatment home.  You will provide an extremely structured environment, based on each resident’s Individualized Treatment Plan. Paid attendance at the monthly 2 hour training seminars will provide you with practical information on topics such as psychotropic medications, clinical interventions, and behavior modification skills.

Counselors are involved in activities including, but not limited to: teaching basic life skills, transports in the agency vans, supervising and assisting residents in cleaning, food preparation, passing and charting medications, basic first aid,  completion of all daily logs, physical restraints when needed to ensure client or staff safety, and providing continuous supervision of residents for safe and appropriate behaviors.  Paradise Oaks Youth Services is non-profit agency and receives its funding from the State of California.

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.  (Verification required at initial interview)
CA DMV:  Acceptable driving record. NO DUI’s (Verification required at initial interview)  
Background Check:  CA DOJ & FBI background check done at agency’s expense
Physical & TB Test:  Done at the agency’s expense.  Employees must pass both.
